Tomato Crab at the Beach
Prep time: 10 minutes | Servings: 1
Recreate a beach scene! It’s a crab crawling along the sand which is strewn with seaweed. This scene is made from healthy veggies and fruit.
Ingredients:
- 1 corn tortilla
- 3 tomatoes
- 2 strawberries, leaves removed
- 1 lettuce, leaves pulled out
Materials:
- Knife
Directions:
- Lay out the tortilla flat on a plate.
- Cut one tomato in half. Place it in the middle of the tortilla. Face the skin side up. This is the crab’s body.
- To make the crab’s legs, cut 10 narrow tomato slices. Then, cut off and remove the inside flesh. You will use only the outer tomato layer.
- Place 2 slices per leg. There should be 2 back legs and 2 middle legs (total 8 slices). Place the last 2 slices as each of the front arms.
- To make the claws, cut the strawberries in half. Cut from the stem to the bottom tip.
- Place the strawberries on the end of the front arms. Let the strawberries’ wide side touch the arms. That way, the strawberry tip is facing out.
- To open the claws, slightly open the gap of the strawberry halves. The halves’ wide sides should still touch each other.
- Place small strips of lettuce leaves around the tortilla. This is the beach seaweed.
