Pen and Pencil Fruit Skewers

Many creative projects start with pens and pencils. Get inspired by using fruit to build pens and pencils! Not only do these motivate you to create, but they’re yummy!

Prep time: 5 minutes | Servings: 2 skewers

NOTE: Always stick the fruit pieces through the skewer’s pointy (not flat) end. This keeps the fruit intact.

Pencil ingredients:

  • 1 wooden skewer
  • 1 watermelon cube
  • 1 banana slice
  • Cantaloupe cubes (as many as needed)
  • 1 pineapple piece
  • 1 blackberry

Pencil directions:

  1. Eraser: Slide the watermelon cube to the dull end of the stick.
  2. Metal band: Slide the banana slice next to the watermelon.
  3. Body: Slice several cantaloupe cubes through the skewer. Leave enough room for one pineapple and one blackberry.
  4. Wood: Slide the pineapple piece next to the last cantaloupe. The pineapple’s pointy end should face the skewer’s pointy end.
  5. Lead: Stick the blackberry at the skewer’s pointed tip. The blackberry’s pointy end should face the skewer’s pointy end.

Pen ingredients:

  • 1 wooden skewer
  • 1 diagonally sliced banana piece
  • Any fruit color of your choice (as many as needed)
  • 1 pineapple piece
  • 1 blueberry

Pen directions:

  1. Clip: Slide the diagonally sliced banana to the dull end of the stick.
  2. Barrel: Slide several pieces of any fruit color you want! Leave enough room for one pineapple and one blueberry.
  3. Tip: Slide the pineapple piece next to the last fruit piece. The pineapple’s pointy end should face the skewer’s pointy end.
  4. Ball: Stick the blueberry at the skewer’s pointed tip.

Mango Molecule Balls
