Do you have an outdoor space? A yard or even a balcony with plants? Even an indoor room with space for plants will do. Whatever it is, make your garden come even more alive with your creativity! Get building with these easy gardening crafts for kids.

You can be creative with flower pots and garden figures you already have. If you don’t have these yet, your local garden store should have them.

Make a Garden Scene

Your garden is a magical place to imagine worlds and characters!

You will need:

  • Camera
  • Flower pots
  • Any garden decorations, like animal statues
  • Paper or cardboard
  • Marker

Instructions:

For this craft, gather flower pots and garden decorations. Then, arrange them around each other. You can make the scene beautiful, silly, whatever you want! Then, get your camera and snap amazing pictures! Try different camera angles too.

Got any animal decorations? You could imagine them as characters in a scene. To do this, get paper or cardboard as a nameplate. For extra fun, write down what the characters are saying!

Smiling Flower Pot

Let your plant show off a smile on its flower pot!

You will need:

  • Clay flower pot
  • Liquid glue
  • Scissors
  • 2 googly eyes
  • Pipe cleaners of any color you want

Instructions:

  1. Place two dots of glue onto the side of the pot. Paste one googly eye onto each glue dot.
  2. Cut two pipe cleaners short enough to make eyebrows. Place two short lines of glue above the eyes. Place each pipe cleaner onto the glue line.
  3. Cut a pipe cleaner short enough to make a nose. Bend it so that it looks like a nose. Place a curved glue line underneath the eyes on the face’s center. Place the pipe cleaner onto the glue line.
  4. Cut one pipe cleaner short enough to make a curved smile. Place a smiling line of glue underneath the nose. Place the pipe cleaner onto the glue line.

Eggshell Sprouts

What’s that coming out from the eggshell? Not a chick this time! It’s a plant!

You will need:

  • 1 eggshell, emptied and halfway cracked
  • 1 egg cup with any design you like
  • Potting mix
  • 2 cotton balls
  • teaspoon alfalfa seeds
  • Spray bottle with water

Instructions:

  1. Put the eggshell into the egg cup.
  2. Place a little potting mix into the eggshell.
  3. Use a spray bottle to spray a little water onto the potting mix.
  4. Place the cotton balls onto the potting mix.
  5. Scatter the alfalfa seeds onto the cotton balls.
  6. Spray a little water onto the cotton balls.
  7. Let the plant grow indoors with natural sunlight. A windowsill with sunlight is good!
  8. Keep spraying into the eggshell every day. But only spray a little each time. Please don’t add too much water!
  9. See the seeds starting to sprout? Do a daily rotation of the egg head. That way, all parts of the plant can get sunshine.
  10. See leaves? Collect the leaves and stalks for eating.
