Happy Year of the Dragon, party parrots!
Hope you picked up the free item from the Lunar Lantern Festival in Party Parrot World! The next party will be later this month, so make sure you don’t miss out!
Remember back in 2021 when I shared an Outfit Request form? Here’s a look back at what we’ve been up to behind-the-scenes:
- Wave 1 was the first 335 requests, and is 90% complete! These are requests from September 2021 to July 2022. We started drawing outfits in November 2021.
- Wave 2 brought us 329 more requests! These were new requests for those pre-registering for the beta test in August 2022
- Wave 3 started with the teaser trailer we launched back in November 2022. Suddenly there was a rush of 6,772 additional new outfit requests. At this point, our artists cried “uncle!” Thanks Ymuy for all your hard work!
- Now we knew it was time to work smarter, not harder! Tech70 and I changed focus to finding the most frequent requests. For example, hoodies, scarves, t-shirts, and party hats were popular requests. So instead of the complete outfit requests, we started drawing individual items that were most requested.
- In August 2023, we started focusing on the music-themed requests to go along with Dance Battle. Our previous grouping step helped us choose which musical outfits to have Leethos and Chilly work on
As I write this post, we’ve finished 472 outfit requests in 2D. And we’ve turned those into 1,174 3D clothing items total so far!
I’m so proud of the artists for their grit and determination to get these done for you — the community!
My goal with Party Parrot World was to have the community lead the creative decisions, and I believe these outfit requests are a key way we can create a world together! It’s been many, many, many hours of hard work so far. Thank you, art team!
Now to answer some questions you might have:
How do I get my requested outfit?
For anyone in Wave 1, we’ll send you an email with a code to unlock your requested outfit. I hope to do that next month (March 2024)
We’ve also completed some Wave 2 and 3 requests. We will only email you if the entire outfit is completed and ready to use in the world.
These will be unique, one-time use codes. They will be sent to the email address you provided in the original Airtable request. You’ll need to login to your Hideaway account then redeem your code from within the Hideaway portal.
What about the beta code I received before?
The beta codes we previously sent will get you… the Beta Outfit!
The codes are not live yet, but they will be with a future Hideaway release. We plan to set up the codes in our new Redeem Code system by March 2024.
Yes, this outfit includes a party hat. This outfit will only be available to those who completed the Beta Application Form back in August 2022.
I didn’t receive a beta code?
Only those who completed the Beta Application Form back in August 2022 will get this code.
We sent out codes to our first batch of Windows and Android beta applicants.
For iOS applicants, we will send those to you via the email you used to apply as a beta tester. We’ve assigned codes to each, but haven’t sent them all out yet. We’ll get there.
What about the outfits you haven’t finished yet?
For now, the Wave 3 requests are paused. We want to make sure the world is fun and dynamic enough for everyone first.
Rest assured, we’ll get back to outfit requests in the future! It’s just a bit better for our artists if they can have a bit of variety to work on.
Are you accepting new outfit suggestions?
Not at the moment. I’d prefer that we focus on completing the (many) requests we have first!
