As an avid traveler, I love collecting keepsakes from my trips. Souvenirs bring back great memories of awesome places. However, they often become big, messy piles!

Travel helps you become more creative. So, use your strengthened creativity when you get back home. Try building these cool vacation-themed crafts for kids and adults alike. These crafts were inspired by my own travels! (Believe me, I’ve visited lots of gift shops.)

Read the following ideas before your trip. You’ll know which souvenirs to collect for crafting. Be sure to keep all paper, like airplane tickets and maps.

Tissue Box Photo Frame

Preserve those trip memories using tissue boxes! They can frame anything from your travels. It could be a map, postcard, bookmark, or other piece of paper. You can also print out a photo from your trip.

You will need:

  • Tissue box
  • A piece of paper from your travels, like a photo, postcard, bookmark, or map
  • Tape or glue

Instructions:

  1. Carefully open the tissue box flaps.
  2. Carefully rip away the plastic film covering the hole.
  3. Place the piece of paper behind the hole. Glue it there.
  4. Close and glue back the flaps.

Souvenir Keyring Collection

Without even realizing it, you might collect lots of paper. Plane tickets, brochures, maps, and postcards galore! Keep them tidy by chaining them to a souvenir keyring. That way, you can flip through your memories!

You will need:

  • Paper from your travels, like maps, brochures, postcards, and tickets
  • Souvenir keyring
  • Hole punch

Instructions:

  1. Punch a hole through the top-left corner of each paper.
  2. Lay out the order of the paper you want. Decide which paper should be the cover.
  3. Thread all the paper through the keyring in that order.

Map It with Magnets

Most people simply stick their souvenir magnets onto their refrigerator. But you can take this one step further with this map craft! Make sure to collect those tickets and postcards!

You will need:

  • A map that can fit on your fridge door
  • Paper from your travels, like brochures, postcards, and tickets
  • 4 souvenir magnets
  • Refrigerator
  • Glue
  • Yarn
  • Scissors

Instructions:

  1. Lay out yarn string along your travel path on the map. This works for car trips, plane-hopping to different cities, or walks!
  2. Glue the yarn.
  3. Use scissors to cut out pictures and words from your paper collection.
  4. Glue these cutouts wherever you want onto the map.
  5. Stick each magnet to a map’s corner on your refrigerator.

Tote Bag Pins

Gift shops often sell tote bags, pins, and buttons. Combine them into this cool craft! These are souvenirs that don’t have to sit around at home. Bring your custom tote bag wherever you go!

You will need:

  • Tote bag
  • Several pins and/or buttons

Instructions:

  1. Lay out your tote bag. Plan the placement of your pins and buttons.
  2. Fasten the pins and buttons onto the tote bag.
